The best route along the east beaches of Florida
The east coast of Florida is full of beautiful beaches, but let’s mention here the most famous or the ones we like the most. With a car, you can travel the entire coast very easily, stopping from time to time to visit the chosen cities. Starting a north-south itinerary on the east coast of Florida, we recommend that you go from Daytona Beach to the Keys Islands. Between Daytona and the last of the Keys Islands, which is Key West, it is about 670 km (which, straight away, would be around 8h). But with a car and a itinerary in hand, the idea is to stop in the cities, getting to know them more deeply and sleeping in some of them.
In which east beaches should I stop at?
The beach-to-beach route we recommend starts in Daytona Beach, which has delightful beaches and a very famous car racing track. The city is the choice of many tourists who are in Orlando and want to visit a nearby beach. Other tourists end up going to Cocoa Beach, which is the second stop on our itinerary and has white sand and warm blue waters. After these two beaches, following the east coast of Florida, the tourist will find a succession of beaches. It’s worth stopping, even if quickly, on the ones you find most interesting, especially Vero Beach and West Palm Beach.
After a few hours on the road, you will reach Boca Raton, which is an hour away from Miami. Boca Raton also has good beaches, in the style of Cocoa Beach, with clear blue sea. After it, there is the trio of most visited cities in Florida to enjoy incredible beaches: Fort Lauderdale, Hollywood and Miami Beach. The three have a very similar climate, with long promenades, white sand strips and a clear and warm sea. Of the three, in our opinion, Hollywood ends up having the best beach. But all three cities are worth exploring, as Fort Lauderdale also has a welcoming lifestyle and Miami is hip, full of shopping and tourists.
Finally, you can choose whether or not to go to the Keys Islands, which are actually called the Florida Keys. There are at least ten islands with wonderful beaches, which take the sea from the Gulf of Mexico and are close to the Bahamas. They are incredible, ideal for a really relaxing trip, and they are all connected by a huge road (which goes over the sea and promises one of the most beautiful views in the world).
